News 2026.02.26 - Variable VAR Drives
The ‘Vario drive’ becomes the VAR drive!
The good old Vario drive, the cornerstone of model railway motorization, is now becoming the VAR drive! And many people think that this is just another marketing ploy: same thing, new name! And in some respects, they are right. We haven't changed anything about the ingeniously simple and simply ingenious principle of the variable VAR drive.

But the VAR drive is so much more than that. For the first time in over two decades, all VAR drives are equipped with a NEM651 interface and, for the first time, they are grouped together in a clear overview that allows you to grasp the wealth of possibilities!
The VAR drive is a very simple and extremely robust model railway drive that allows you to gradually extend the axle distance from 23 mm to 26.7 mm or 30.4 mm without any prior knowledge or tools. You can use the VAR drive as a rigid drive for two-axle models, but also as a bogie drive for classic railcars and articulated tram models.
