News 2025.10 - Viennese hearse tram le 7031er
We wish you a merry All Saints' Day!
From 1918 onwards, the deceased in Vienna travelled by tram! The le 7031, converted from a former NWT steam tram car, could carry up to 12 passengers from the large Viennese hospitals, the care home in Lainz and the nursing home in Steinhof to the Vienna Central Cemetery in style.

In 1920, the ‘ticket’ cost between 370 and 450 crowns, making it significantly more expensive than the fare for standing passengers. By 1928, over 33,000 deceased persons had been taken to their final resting place by this unusual means of transport – around ten years later, the tram was taken out of service.
Viennese people are always a little morbid and enjoy black humour. But the hearse on line 71 is no joke; it really did exist. The 7031 model also existed, but it had not been available for a long time. Just in time for All Saints' Day, we have produced a small series. Don't miss out, as we will not be able to reissue the model in this form.
To match the sidecar, we can now offer you the vintage Type A railcar again. As usual at Halling, we offer the models motorised or as high-quality display models in one of three (!) different car numbers. All models come with a comprehensive set of finely printed matching target signs and colour-coordinated accessories.
